Fresh Bagels!

Today we tried a new recipe in our bread machine...BAGELS!  I had always thought bagels were difficult to make, but they were simple and turned out GREAT.  They tasted like they came from a bakery.  We used this recipe, and the bread machine really did most of the work.  Next time I would double the recipe a freeze some too...I think we have a new favorite!

Happy First of August!

Swiss National Day brought a party to our house, thanks to our Swiss friends.  We ate some wonderful foods...bread, pies, muesli, meringes, cookies, cream, and the star of the show...Raclette.

We were treated to traditional Swiss dress, songs, games and fun.  We couldn't quite manage a bonfire on a mountain top, but we did our best.

A Little Art

It was too beautiful to be inside today, and an outdoor day calls for a messy art project!

Violet enjoyed some shaving cream painting (and eating...yuk), while Matias painted our windows with some cornstarch/baby soap paint.  Lots of fun, and not TOO hard to clean up, thanks to the rain!
